DSR – Your Best Brecision Parts Supplier

With advanced 5-axis CNC machining centers and a highly qualified staff, DSR can efficiently process a wide range of complex parts, enabling you to receive high-quality parts while enjoying convenient service.

Leading 5-axis CNC Machining Service Supplier

5-axis CNC machining was simultaneous tool movement along five different axes (three linear and two rotary) to achieve complex motion. Differing from traditional 3- and 4-axis machining, 5-axis CNC machining has greater flexibility, higher precision, and more processing efficiency.

DSR’s 5-axis CNC machining services can manufacture different types of precision parts. Our Haas 5-axis CNC machining centers feature powerful DWO/TCPC functionality, allowing us to create CAM programs in advance and then position the tooling and part anywhere on the worktable without reprogramming! This will make your project be completed as quickly as possible.

Also, our DMG 5-axis machining centers feature integrated automation, so we can cost-effectively process parts from various materials and compensate for up to 11 geometric errors, achieving 0.01mm accuracy.

If you require components with high precision and complex structure, please contact us for custom production. DSR offers comprehensive machining solutions and affordable wholesale pricing.

Advantages of DSR 5-axis CNC Machining

High Efficiency

DSR 5-axis CNC centers can finish multi-faceted machining tasks in just a single setup, eliminating the time and alignment errors associated with multiple part flips.

High Precision and High Repeatability

Without human setup errors, 5-axis machining excels in precision and dimensional consistency, so it’s well-suited for tight-tolerance applications.

Machining Complex Structure

5-axis simultaneous machining capabilities, complex angles, concave surfaces, deep cavities, and other difficult shapes can be achieved without turning the workpiece during machining, making it suitable for high-curvature components.

Improved Surface Quality

Shorter tools and optimized tool angles can be used, significantly reducing vibration, achieving surfaces with strict tolerance, and lowering subsequent polishing costs.

Long Tool Life

Constant cutting angles and optimized cutting paths reduce tool stress and overheating, significantly enlarging tool life and reducing tool maintenance.

Complex Angle Drilling

Curved and compound-angle hole machining can be performed without changing setups or tools, improving machining flexibility and cycle efficiency.

low overall cost per part

Although the initial equipment investment is higher, the savings in setup times, labor, scrap rate, and high throughput efficiency make five-axis machining a significant cost advantage in the long term.

Wide Application

Five-axis machining is widely used in various industries, including medical, energy, and mold manufacturing, among others, to meet the manufacturing requirements of highly complex and high-precision parts. It can also cut or surface-treat a wide range of metals, alloys, and plastics.

Guaranteed Quality

Unlike other companies that only conduct pre-shipment inspections, DSR controls product quality from the source. We first inspect raw materials, including material verification, processing accuracy verification, and process documentation review. We then conduct separate inspections at each process step, including first-article inspection, routine inspections, and finished product inspections. Finally, we conduct pre-packaging inspections, including comprehensive dimensional measurements, appearance and surface quality assessments, and packaging and labeling inspections. Therefore, you can be confident in our products.

Various Materials DSR Can Process For You

Aluminum Alloys

One of the most commonly used materials for five-axis machining, such as 6061 and 7075, offers high strength, lightweight, and excellent thermal conductivity, making them easy to machine and produce excellent surface finishes. They are particularly well-suited for the aerospace, automotive, and electronics industries.

Stainless Steels

Common examples include 304 and 316L. Their corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical properties make them widely used in the medical, food processing, and industrial equipment industries.

Titanium Alloys

For example, Ti-6Al-4V offers excellent strength-to-weight ratios, corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility, making it suitable for demanding environments such as aviation, medical, and chemical industries. Machining is challenging, requiring specialized tools and strategies.

Copper and Copper Alloys

They offer excellent electrical and thermal conductivity and good machinability, making them commonly used in electronics, decorative products, and heat exchange components.

Magnesium Alloys, Nickel-Based Alloys, Steel, and Cast Iron

Due to their unique physical properties, they are often used in aerospace engines, high-temperature components, molds, and other applications.

Plastics

Common plastics include ABS, nylon, polycarbonate, acrylic, Delrin (POM), HDPE, PVC, PEEK, and PPS. These engineering plastics offer structural stability and ease of processing, making them suitable for prototyping, medical devices, consumer products, and high-performance components.

Does 3-axis CNC machining have advantages over 5-axis CNC machining?

While 5-axis CNC machining has clear advantages, 3-axis CNC machining is more suitable for certain applications.

3-axis machines, with their simpler construction and fewer axes, are generally priced significantly lower than the higher costs of 5-axis equipment. Furthermore, with fewer moving parts, maintenance requirements and complexity are reduced, resulting in lower long-term operating costs. 3-axis machines also require lower operator and programmer skills, making them a more accessible option for small teams or startups.

Three-axis machines are also suitable for machining 2D or 2D thickened parts, and are more efficient for processing flat features, straight contours, and straight holes. For simple parts (such as flat parts, plates), housings, and panels, 3-axis machining is sufficiently efficient and does not require the complexity of 5-axis machining.

Thus, 3-axis machining is more suitable for startups, prototyping, or small-batch part production.

How much can a CNC five-axis machining center save compared to other machining centers?

Although a five-axis machine has a higher hourly cost, it often offers significant overall project cost savings due to reduced setups and increased efficiency.

Setup and setup costs are reduced by 40–60%, especially for complex parts.

Total manufacturing time is reduced by 30–50%, including savings in labor and machine runtime.

The advantages of batch size are significant in production: consolidating three three-axis machines into one five-axis machine can save 25% per batch.

An example of significant benefits: In the production of turbine casings, the unit price was reduced from $220 to $180 per unit, a reduction of approximately 18%–20%. The additional investment is gradually recovered with batch sizes of 50 or more, with a cost savings of $40 per unit.

Do you perform regular machine maintenance?

Yes. Daily Maintenance: Clean chips, oil, and dust from the inside and outside of the machine; Check the lubrication system for proper operation; Verify the coolant level and ratio; and monitor any noise, overheating, vibration, or abnormal sound.

Monthly: Clean the cutting fluid tank and filter; Check the electrical cabinet for dust accumulation, connector condition, and fan operation.

Check the spindle-guideway clearance and test geometric accuracy.

Annual Maintenance: Check the overall machine geometry and spindle bearing clearance, and stability. Check the electrical cabinet components for functionality and reliability, and replace the battery. Check the machine’s tilt, V-belt tension, tool change system accuracy, and the condition of the air duct and cooling system.
